Hello from the hill
Our story
On the Hill Crafts – Makers’ Retreat began with a simple idea: to make room for creativity, connection and a little time away from the everyday.
Based in Yarraman, in regional South East Queensland, our relaxed, hands-on retreats bring makers together to learn new skills, share ideas and enjoy good company in a beautiful country setting. We keep numbers small so each retreat feels personal, with good food and plenty of time to settle into something you love.
No big crowds. No rushing. Just a welcoming break with people who understand the joy of making something with your hands. From sewing and bag making to other creative projects down the track, it’s always time away where making is the whole point.

Meet Tania
I’ve loved making things for as long as I can remember. There’s something so satisfying about sitting down with a project, engaging in that project and seeing it become something you’ve made yourself.
When I started planning the Makers’ Retreats, I hoped they would be more than a place to work on projects. I wanted to bring makers together for a creative break, with time away from everyday responsibilities, good company and the chance to go home feeling refreshed and proud of what they’d made.
Seeing that come to life at our first retreat was incredibly special. I loved watching everyone’s personality shine through their projects, but what stayed with me most was the laughter, the encouragement and how strangers at the start felt like friends by the end.
That’s what I hope you’ll find here in Yarraman: a warm welcome, a little country air and time to do something you love. I’d love you to join us.
